กก Niangziguan Pass
Legend goes that during the Tang dyansty, women soldiers which under the commandership of Princess Pingyang, daughter of the first emperor of the Tang dynasty, once garrisoned here. Hence the name. Niangziguan pass was built on the mountainside, backing to the steep cliffs and overlooking the sheer valley. It originally had two gateways which named "Shangguan" (Upper Pass) and "Xiaguan" (Lower Pass). After the reconstruction during the Ming dyansty, the new gateways, namely East Gate and West Gate, were installed here to replace the former ones. called Weize (Reed Pond) Pass, Niangziguan Pass (Women's Pass), 45 km north of
Pingding County, Shanxi province, straddles a key route between Hebei and Shanxi.
Surrounded by a maze of hills and valleys, Niangziguan Pass was famed as
"the Ninth Pass on the Great wall". The extant pass was built in 1542
during the Ming dyansty.
